If resolutions are about new life opportunities to finally “get it right” we’ll always be top-10-tips-winter-workouts-jpg_193856disappointed in ourselves.

Have you ever heard of a person reaching old age and on the brink of death, ready to leave this life, they take a deep breath and in exhaling, they find themselves completely satisfied in finally getting this life thing down? — you know, like read enough of the “right” books, learned the art of creating the perfectly organized closet, balanced time with work and family, and established the most effective 5-steps in business communications – all  right up ’til their last breath…

There’s no “getting it right”, really.

But we can attempt to love more…

Rather than being resolved TO something, becoming more focused on what matters seems to fit the call of the season better.

Jesus brings us closer to this when we see how He responded to one of the Pharisee’s questions:

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)

When God is in the center of my life, I can rest. I am satisfied.

Let Him then say, “Well done.” ~ ♥†
